My Favorite.....

Powerpoint!  Today, after a short time finishing up yesterday's work we started on a powerpoint over plate tectonics.  We took guided notes that are for your benefit and should be used as a study tool for when the test comes you way.  I have included the powerpoint here for those that may need it along with the guided notes worksheet.  We will have to finish the powerpoint on Monday because tomorrow we are going to figure out where to put a wind farm in the great city of Post Falls!

Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics...

Alfred Wegener ca.1924-30.jpg

The idea of Continental Drift proposed by Alfred Wegener and isn't the same as Plate Tectonics.  These concepts were covered today as we read in the book pages B14-B19.  The evidence that Wegener used to help support his theory was also covered.  Below is the worksheet started in class.  We will complete it tomorrow in class.  Remember, you can always check a textbook out with me to complete any readings or work.

The Science Books Have Been Cracked.....

Today we began using our science textbooks. We started learning about plate tectonics.  We read Unit B Section 1.1 (pages B9-B13).  We also watched the BrainPop movie: Plate Tectonics.  Remember you can use my login and password to access BrainPop at any time to watch videos.  The login: rachaelkt password: donorschoose  Also, just a reminder with textbooks, I don't check one out to each individual student for them to take home.  If you need to borrow one, you can check one out as needed and return when done with it.  After reading and the video, we completed the vocabulary on B9 (seven words) and the questions on B13  #1-6.  Those were turned in during class or students complete at home.

Back to School

A little intro to Plate Tectonics today by giving the students a pre-test to see what they know about the topic.  It looks like we have room for growth in this area.  Also, we watched a little Bill Nye-Earth's Crust video to give the students an introduction to how the Earth is made up and how the plates move.
