Volcano Characteristics: Computer Lab

Today we headed to the computer lab and were identifying various characteristics of Cinder Cone, Strato and Shield volcanoes.  It seemed to be pretty tough so students will be allowed to work on it tomorrow in class if time allows and then I will make a determination as to when it is due, either Wednesday or Thursday.  A copy of the worksheet is below.  Tomorrow in class is BYOD (bring your own device day) for a mapping activity.  Please plan accordingly.

Krakatoa!

I was out again today but no biggie!  In class we watched the video about Krakatoa.  This volcano erupted back in 1883 and was very destructive. Along with the video, students were asked to complete the questions on the worksheet below and turn in at the end of the period. If you were absent, watch the video answer questions and turn in on Monday!  Speaking of Monday, see you then!

Welcome to 2nd Semester!

Volcanoes!

It's 2nd semester, time to buckle down and get busy!  We are off and running talking about volcanoes now.  We have three types of volcanoes: strato/composite, shield and cinder cones.  All have different characteristics.  Today in class we focused in general how volcanoes are formed, where they are formed and what their eruptions look like.  Feel free to take a look at the powerpoint below to inform yourself of all the great stuff you might have missed today!
